Slow Cooked Apples...

I made these up the other day...

6 Apples (don't ask me what kind, I hear all work ok as long as they aren't red, dunno why that is)
Ground Cinnamon
1/4 cup water

This is a pretty simple recipe here...

Peel and Slice Apples
Toss them into a slow cooker
Sprinkle with cinnamon Approx. 2 1/2 to 3Tblsp (I didn't measure this part) I just tossed it in.
Pinch of nutmeg (I didn't want them to be strong so just a pinch)
mix up the apples to make sure they are all coated with the cinnamon
add 1/4 of water and set to cook.

I set it on high for 4 hours...after a few hours I was able to slice an apple with a plastic spatula with ease so I turned it off. You can most definitely do these in an oven and I would assume a microwave as well Or even a steamer. I'd set the oven to about 300 to 325 and cover them with foil...keep and eye on em so you don't burn them.

In a microwave if you have a microwave safe steamer I'd toss em in probably in 5 to 10 min intervals checking them along the way. Of course it all depends on what you want to do with the apples how long you actually cook them.

My son and I ate them warm with cool whip and since there was NO SUGAR added :) I felt so good that he loved them. The following day I smushed up 1/2 cup and tossed it in pancake batter & he LOVED those! I'm using the rest today to puree for applesauce, which I will use in place of oil for some cupcakes :)

I'm trying this today but the apples I had in the fridge were green/red! We'll see if when they're mixed if they work or not!

truthfully I think it will work either way...It's just a matter of how tart they come out because of the different apples. but you can always add sugar :) I kept it sugarless cuz of the kids. Let me know how they turn out! I hope you like em.
